Qualifications for Residence at Winifred Stuart Mankowski
Homes:
- You must have advertised in The Christian Science
Journal for at least
10 years as a practitioner or nurse, preferably just before retiring.
- Must be able to care for all your own needs – cooking, cleaning,
finances, etc. – independently. No staff to provide assistance
or nursing.
- Must have proven a harmonious temperament, be able to interact cheerfully
with staff and other residents, and be an asset for Christian Science
in the local community.
- Must be willing to actively participate in the local Christian Science
movement, as well as in the field from which you came.
- Must be of retirement age (over 55) and be at least semi-retired.
- Must have a financial “picture” that shows you “need” Mankowski
Homes. We estimate that it would cost an individual about $3500 a month
to provide a like facility. If you earn more than that each month, or
are married and planning to retire here as a couple, you should submit
a preliminary application and the manager will call you. Each case is
evaluated individually because debts and assets, as well as income, are
different for each applicant.
- A spouse needs to qualify as well.
As with the applicant, the spouse can only work part-time within the Christian
Science movement. Neither the applicant or the spouse can have outside
jobs, even part-time.
- Current rent is $150 for a single and $200 for a couple.
This is payable before the first of each month and includes utilities,
maintenance, monthly cleaning, and grounds upkeep. Telephone and cable
television are not included. Satellite television is not allowed.
- No central dining room. No pets or children allowed.
- Our founder, Mrs. Mankowski, requires the trustees and management,
as well as the residents, to provide an atmosphere of “quiet comfort
and dignity” here at Mankowski Homes.
